Rust and limescale removal gel for smooth, painted and metal surfaces

Product overview

Oxy Cleanze is a professional-grade rust and limescale removal gel designed for use on smooth, painted and metal surfaces.

Its thick gel formulation allows for controlled application and effective dwell time on compatible, non-porous substrates, making it suitable for detailed cleaning work on metals, painted finishes, cladding and glass.

Suitable surfaces

Oxy Cleanze is suitable for use on smooth, painted and metal surfaces, including:

  • Steel and stainless steel
  • Cast iron
  • Painted metal and painted wood
  • Industrial steel and aluminium cladding
  • Lead and oxidised lead
  • GRP (glass reinforced plastic), including boats
  • uPVC, PVC and most plastics
  • Painted renders and coated masonry surfaces
  • Window glass (for limescale removal)

Oxy Cleanze is designed for use on non-porous or sealed substrates where controlled application and thorough rinsing are possible.

Always treat a small, discreet test area first to confirm compatibility before full application.

Oxy Cleanze is not suitable for use on stone, concrete or cement-based surfaces. For these, we recommend Rust Cleanze.

How it works

Oxy Cleanze reacts with iron oxidation and mineral deposits on compatible surfaces, breaking them down so they can be safely rinsed away.

Its thick gel formulation allows the product to cling to vertical and horizontal surfaces, maintaining contact with the staining for effective dwell time without excessive run-off. This controlled action makes it particularly suitable for detailed work on smooth, painted and metal substrates.

Oxy Cleanze uses a safer alternative to aggressive mineral acids, delivering effective rust and limescale removal while reducing the risks associated with stronger acid-based treatments when used as directed.

After the reaction has completed, residues should be thoroughly rinsed from the surface with clean water.

Application and coverage

Oxy Cleanze is supplied ready to use and should not be diluted.

Apply evenly to the affected area using a brush or roller. Brushing is generally preferred, as it offers better control and helps minimise splashing. A wide brush can be used to cover larger areas efficiently.

Allow the product to dwell on the surface while it reacts with the staining. Do not allow Oxy Cleanze to dry out during this period. If the product begins to dry before the reaction is complete, lightly mist the area with clean water to keep the surface damp.

Once the reaction has completed, rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water to remove all residues.

Coverage will vary depending on surface type and the severity of staining. As a guide, 1 litre will typically treat approximately 10 square metres on smooth, non-porous surfaces.

For best results, apply in cooler conditions where possible. In warmer weather, early morning or late afternoon application will help prevent premature drying.

Safety and responsible use

Oxy Cleanze is a professional-grade product and must be handled with care.

The product is not classified as metal corrosive; however, it is classified as skin corrosive and may cause skin burns and serious eye damage. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn during use.

As a minimum, wear chemical-resistant gloves and suitable eye and face protection. Ensure all exposed skin is covered. When working in confined or poorly ventilated areas, suitable respiratory protection should be used.

The public, including children and animals, must be excluded from areas where chemical mixing, application or storage is taking place and must not re-enter the treated area until it is safe to do so.

Any spillages should be wiped off and rinsed away immediately with clean water to minimise the risk of surface discolouration.

Always follow the instructions on the product label and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). The purchaser and end user are responsible for ensuring that Oxy Cleanze is used in line with industry best practice and applicable chemical safety regulations.
