How to remove rust stains from stainless steel (video)

Remove rust from stainless steel with Benz Oxy Cleanze

In this short video Ben demonstrates the treatment of a stainless steel door handle to remove rust stains – caused by the stainless steel being contaminated with carbon steel –by applying Benz Oxy Cleanze.

Quick tip 1:
It may seem strange to have to treat "stainless" steel for rust. This is because some stainless steel can be contaminated by carbon/mild steel. In the case of the stainless steel in the video it is probably 304, which by the sea is not a great idea. The manufacturer would have done better to use 316 or A4 grade stainless.

Quick tip 2: To find out how long rusted metal treated with Oxy Cleanze would remain free from rust following a treatment, we treated some rusty cast-iron downpipes and left them unpainted and exposed to the elements.

They remained clear of rust even several months later. (normally we would have painted them with a rust-protection paint, such as smooth Hammerite, following a treatment with Oxy Cleanze)

Quick tip 3: When using Oxy Cleanze always protect the surrounding surfaces and wear suitable PPE.

Huge thanks to all our customers for your loyalty in making Benz your softwash product supplier of choice. We appreciate the fact that so many of our trade customers come back to us week after week, month after month, year after year.

And by way of practical appreciation, we've decided to no longer pro-actively seek domestic customers for our products and will not knowingly sell products to the customers of our trade customers, i.e. those who want to play around with d.i.y.
